Skyrail to Kuranda, an Army Duck rainforest tour at Rainforestation, and Kuranda Scenic Railway home — two iconic rainforest journeys in one day from Cairns.

The Journey

Start your day aboard the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway from Smithfield Terminal at 9:30am, a 7.5km, 40 to 50 minute journey with stops recommended at Red Peak and Barron Falls stations along the way. Arrive in Kuranda Village to wander the markets. The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is a must-see, and you'll receive a 10% discount on entry. From here, transfer to Rainforestation Nature Park for an Army Duck Rainforest Tour with Tropical Fruit Orchard, travelling deep into the rainforest on both land and water as your guide points out native flora and fauna. Afterwards, transfer back to Kuranda Village, or stay on at Rainforestation for lunch in the restaurant at your own cost, served daily 11:30am to 1:30pm. Be at Kuranda Railway Station in time for the 3:30pm departure on the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway, a 1¾-hour journey back to Cairns Railway Station. Your coach will meet you at Cairns Railway Station for the transfer back to your accommodation.
